I’m so spoiled by searchable settings that it feels like I’m back in the 50s if I actually have to manually click around menus looking for a setting.

grrgyle@slrpnk.netto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Python needs an actual default function1·1 month agoOh that is a good point actually. It’s been a while since I have done any serious Python, so I’m not sure why you couldn’t just use convention instead of this conditional.
For my part, if a Python script is meant to be executed, then I’ll give it a shebang, drop the .py, and simply mark it as executable in the filesystem. 🤷♂️
grrgyle@slrpnk.netto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Python needs an actual default function3·1 month agoI’m not sure I’m following the implication. Name=main is for scripts primary, is it not?
I’ve never thought to add more than one of these conditionals anyway…
grrgyle@slrpnk.netto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Python needs an actual default function49·1 month agoI remember how weird this looked the first time I saw it and while I may now understand it, it still looks jank af
A single user instance, expensive? I’m using a hosted VPS with 1 vCPU, 2 Go RAM, 20 Go disque, and that seems like plenty. Although admittedly I’m not federated with many communities, and mostly just play around with my instance as a toy (it’s not this instance, ofc).
Oh sry, I just noticed you do host a few users actually. That’s cool. Do the system requirements ramp up much?
lol nice domain. Also yeah, running an instance is so so easy. Just follow the lemmy-ansible installation instruction and that’s pretty much it.

I was actually walking this older dog, and getting impatient because it kept stopping to sit despite not seeming winded or stressed or anything being wrong, so I was like c’mon, c’mon, let’s get moving – we have to finish the walk…
But then I realised it was stopping at intersections and just, like, looking around casually. So I decided that rather than coax it onward I would wait with it.
We watched people going by, cars pulling in and out of driveways, listened to other dogs barking in the distance, sniffed at the wind whenever it picked up… I tried to figure out how many birds I could hear. It was really nice.
And then the dog seemed satisfied, so stood up and we continued our walk.
tl;dr a dog taught me how to chill tf out.
Undefined Behavior…?
And it’s red on top of things? My love
Ah memories. That was an interesting lesson.
Yeh. Matrix structure where anyone can message anyone, and lots of people depend on each other, seems to work pretty well. But silos will develop anywhere you’ve got hundreds of people, at least as far as I’ve seen.
True. But we can do a lot better
