Job qualifiers in listings imagine a perfect candidate who doesn’t exist. Don’t let that stop you from applying. They understand that you can learn new skills.

The original Macintosh had an Applications folder. App is what I use to cut through tech speak for people at work because the shortcut is less daunting. They have apps on their phone. They must not be scary like Programs and Applications.

I thought a lot about getting out of tech about eight years ago. I landed on becoming a history professor as the role that would be most fulfilling. I hated school and I would hate getting accredited, but I believe I’d be able to impart the joy of history to a handful of students. Too bad I hated school. I’m still in tech.

It’s not against dark humor. It’s against what you identified: people hiding behind it or qualifying their bigotry as dark humor when they’re really just assholes.

My humor is dark af and I take no offense because this isn’t about that.
